Alpine Skiers benefit from:
Austria's largest interconnecting ski area:
REAL BIG - Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental
91 Lifts, over 279 pists km of all categories, 210 km with artificial snow.
The free ski bus stops in front of our house and takes you to the cable car station Brixen (twice in the morning/afternoon, see timetable). The family slope "Götschen" is ideal for intermediate skiers and beginners and is only appr. 100 m away from us. With enough snow (since natural snow slope) you have easy access to the ski area (slope Nr. 11, then 16 a)
The cross-country ski track Brixental (14 km, easy)you will reach in only 3 min. walk. It connects the villages Westendorf, Brixen, Kirchberg and is ideal for beginners without significant climbs and descents. Up the mountain (on 1300 m above sea level) you will find a cross-country ski track (4 km) with magnificent mountain view and excellent snow conditions until spring. Ascent to Hochbrixen with the cable car.
Various ski rentals are in place and at the Brixen gondola, the 2 local ski schools will help you to improve your skills and make your ski day unique!
We are right on the way to the toboggan run towards Brixenbach Alm - walking time appr 1 hour, taxis are also available. Length: 3,5 km. The toboggan run Gaisberg in Kirchberg (length 3.5 km) you will find in 5 km distance. Ascent with chair lift.
Numerous winter trails lead through the Brixen Valley, we recommend e.g. a cozy winter walk to Kirchberg, a small neighbour village with nice center with pedestrian zone.
And there's much more that is much fun in winter (horse-drawn sleigh rides, curling, snowshoe walks ...) - the local tourist board offers a weekly program with a variety of guided activities.
